Day 1- Journey of a Writer: It All Started with wanting to Make Money

Being a writer is a tough journey. But beautiful in its own way. Marketing a book is tough but marketing a book under a pseudonym is tougher. Just for the heck of it, I have decided to keep a record of my journey. Who knows, one day, someday, when the world has moved on to the year 2098 someone, someday might read this. We are writers after all, how can we not be imaginative?

And what to hear a joke? I have an editor and a beta reader, all working under a pseudonym. We are a big happy group of people who live in a society where sex is still a taboo.  So why does a writer, like me, want to write an erotica?

First and the foremost reason is that it sells. Not for all but if you consistently write about it, it does.

How did I decide to write an erotica?

I have a few romances in my kitty already and all of them are on the best seller list.  But as Shaira to write has become a challenge to me.  And that is the best part of this whole new game. This anonymity. I am enjoying the challenges I am facing each day to promote myself as Shaira.

As for making money, the first book has sold around 40 copies. Not bad actually for a new writer. Most of the sales took place after I had put up my book on RedRoseRomance. Great site, btw. A few blog tour hosts refused to take on my book. According to the Book Club, they said, that they will not promote erotica. While another site, I forgot the name, said they don't do a short novella. So without garnering reviews, I don't think I can sell many copies.

I don't even know if anyone will read my post or not.  But being a writer has one advantage. We all are egocentric maniacs. I don't really care! I am writing these articles for myself. So that when I am at the dusk of my life, these memories are always with me.

So writing every day, starting from my first novel, The Innocent Librarian, I am going to record my journey. Universe, can you hear this?
